Made of a weather-proof canvas it could retract into the boot electrically at any driving speed.
The button top operate the roof was on the dashboard centre console unnervingly close to the boot release button.
It was a fairly common experience to accidentally open the boot instead of the roof.
1 quick push of the button would retract the roof fully into the boot but to close, the button had to be held down.
On some newer versions of the SAM unit (fuse box) the roof could be opened remotely by double pressing the unlock button on the key fob.
The soft top roof stays in place (but retracted) when the hard top is fitted.
