In order to stop the market flooding with grey imports, Smart UK sold the LHD version in the UK before the RHD version was ready.
This 60 bhp model was priced just below £10000 and no coupe version was offered.

The car came with a choice of three body panel colours, coupled with a black tridion safety cell.
A matte removable roof is fitted as standard, doing away with the electric soft top.
The interior seats were of the Fortwo design on roadie seat frames (and have slightly less side support than a standard Roadster ones).
The standard fit wheels are steel with black centre caps.
NOTE: These cars did not have power steering and had no radio.
